The Cocktail Types…

At The HiFi Mai Tai We are always on the hunt for the new and exciting. Here we have grouped all of the iEMs we have featured by the driver arrangements.

We have also included a comparison graph to illustrate the performance gains (or not) of changing to different driver configurations.

Comparisons of all IEMs featured at the HiFi Mai Tai Beach Bar can be Found by Consulting the Cocktail Menu…

Single Driver IEMs…

For many Single driver are the purest form of IEM.

With a single Driver responsible for all frequencies these IEMs can deliver and unmatched cohesive sound.

Generally, the Single driver a dynamic driver or a planar driver each of which have their own benefits and both of which have their own fans.

Multi-Driver IEMs…

Multi-Driver IEMs Feature Only a single driver type but multiple of that type. These multiple drivers may be quite different from one anotehr but to be considered a multi-driver they must all employ the same technology.

Generally multi-Driver IEMs Feature multiple Dynamic Drivers or Multiple Balanced Armatures (BAs).

Again there are pros and cons to each driver type but with multiple drivers there are more oppotunities.

Hybrid Driver IEMs…

Hybrid Drivers have been around for a while and are for many people an upgrade from single and multi-driver iEMs.

Hybrid IEMs use multiple drivers of two distinct types. Common combinations include dynamic drivers with balance armatures and dynamic drivers with planar drivers.

Hybrid IEMs ai to work to the benefit of the individual driver types and overcome the limitations associated with teh driver types individually.

Tribrid Driver IEMs…

Like Hybrid IEMs Tribrids use multiple different driver types in this case three distinct driver types.

The most Common tribrids are a combination of dynamic drivers, balanced armatures and planar drivers. However, other combinations such as those incorporating bone conduction drivers are not uncommon.

just as for hybrids the aim to optimise each driver for what it is good at.

Manybrid Driver IEMs…

The Use of Four different driver types is rare but not uncommon. as you may have guessed from the patern these are known as quadbrids.

but ther realm of exotic iEMs goes beyound Quadbrids. You can get even more than four. however, here at the hiFi Mai Tai Beach Bar we don’t want things to get too complicated. Life is better when its simple. So we have grouped anything with four or more driver types together.
